Published in 2019, Red, White, and Royal Blue is an LGBTQ+ romance novel by Casey McQuiston about Alex Claremont-Diaz, the First Son of the United States, falling in love with Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, the Prince of England. The novel is set in America in 2016, when Alex's mother, Ellen Claremont, has just been elected as president. Filled with hope, love, and the possibility of radical change, the novel spurred a boom in LGBTQ+ romance novels, won multiple Goodreads Choice Awards, and is being adapted into a feature film set to be released in 2023.
